I actually am a fan of DR.Laura, i guess in my country it doesn't matter whether you're black or not so we have a different view on it, specially since our base skin tone is tanned. I think the N word isn't about who gets to say it, it's about having the right to say it. It's a power point to black people being able to say the N word specially since it feels more like they own the word now, whereas before white people used it in slavery. I think we should know not to use it in terms of respect. and honoring other people's emotions and respecting the past. even though I'd like for us to live forward and leave the hatred behind, though non the less I want to respect the people who fought for freedom and honor them.
and I don't think everything should fall under the 1st amendment right. If it would hurt another person without saying something meaningful or with a purpose then Don't say it. in case of Dr,laura i understand what she meant, specially since the caller married a black guy so they should share their life together and their boundaries become less noticeable. and Dr.Laura was making a point and didn't mean to offend. But if i were her I wouldn't have used the style she used with the caller, it seemed rude and disrespectful.
